Learning through play
There are so many ways to use these wheels to make practising times tables fun and engaging!
Make it: Print both parts of your chosen wheel, carefully cut along the dotted lines and stick the centre circles together to create your interactive multiplication wheel.
Predict it: Choose a number and multiply it by the number in the centre of the wheel. Can your child work out the answer before lifting the flap?
Lift it: Lift the flap to reveal the answer and check their calculation.
Say it: Encourage your child to say the full multiplication sentence aloud. For example, 3 × 4 = 12.
Challenge it: Once your child feels confident, try completing the wheel in a different order or challenge them to recall the answers without lifting the flaps.
Explore it: Look for patterns in the answers and investigate how multiplication relates to repeated addition and equal groups.
These playful activities help children develop multiplication knowledge, mathematical fluency, number recognition and confidence with recalling times tables.
